L is for Ladybug

L is for Ladybugs!  Ladybugs are such cute little beetles.  Yes, I said beetles.  They are actually beetles and not bugs as their name suggests.
They are very helpful to gardeners who have lots of aphids in their garden.  A ladybug can eat up to 50 aphids a day.  They are also very bright and colorful.  This helps them to protect themselves from predators.
I have always loved ladybugs.  When a ladybug lands on me, I feel a sense of excitement.  I guess this is why I love using them in my classroom during the spring.
Today, I have a card I created for my love of ladybugs.

The card base is Black Licorice and Limeade Splash Cardstock.  On the Limeade Splash piece, I stamped the branch stamp from the Special Lady stamp set, randomly with Limeade Splash ink.  Then on a scrap piece of Limeade Splash Cardstock, I stamped the two leaves in the set as well, with Limeade Splash Ink.  I detail cut these out and added them to the card with foam squares.
Next, I stamped the flower, also included in the Special Lady stamp set, with Lemon Drop Ink on Lemon Drop Cardstock.  I detail cut these pieces out and adhered them to the card.  Using a little bit of Journey Glaze, I glued the small Clear Bloom Accents to the top of the Lemon Dropflowers.
I stamped the sentiment from the Special Lady set, on a Whip Cream cardstock banner piece with Black Licorice ink.
The large ladybug, from the Special Lady stamp set, I stamped with Black Licorice ink on Candy Apple Cardstock.  I detail cut the ladybug out.  I colored in the head and body part with a Sharpie and then adhered the ladybug to the card with foam squares.
To finish the card, I added a Lemon Grass Button threaded with Lemon Grass Thread and added Journey Glaze to the small leaves on the background.  Enjoy!
